Hemodialysis and poisoning with Salicylic acid

Poisoning with salicylic acid and its derivatives is a quite event, leading to life-threating complications. A case of severe intoxication of a twenty eight-year old female patient in a comatose state, with acetyl salicylic acid is deseribed and the elinical view and therapeutic options are discussed. It is mandatory to initiate simple and conservative measures first in acute poisoning. Whenever the medical treatment modalities fail, hemodialysis should be additionally considered since it is effective in removing salicylic acid from the body.
